My Closely Knit Interview with Denada

On a chilly but sunny day earlier this month I had the pleasure of meeting up with 2 of DeNada’s wonderful interns Lise and Balkis to have some coffee and chat about life, fashion and of course, knitwear! If you don’t already know, DeNada is an emerging accessories line that specializes in simple yet timeless handmade knits. I now have 2 DeNada pieces in my closet that I love dearly. On the day of the interview I sported the one I wear daily, the black circle scarf. I included 2 questions taken from the interview bellow, one about why I love DeNada and one on my advice for shopping for fall/winter. The full interview can be read here.

DeNada is kindly giving readers of my blog a 15% discount on anything in their store! Just use the code “MISSLYLE15” at checkout. These soft and beautiful scarves make great gifts too (Code valid 11-18dec). Take a look at the store here.

What do you love about DeNada?

I really love knitwear, and being from South Africa, I have never had that much chance to wear it. I first heard about DeNada’s knitwear after I saw the lookbook that Marshall [from The President wears Prada] shot. I was wowed by the photographs, I felt like it was art- the pieces and styling look so beautiful. DeNada has such great craftwork, the scarves drape so well. I also appreciate that the pieces are made in Peru. I like that there is thought behind the products, and is not mass-produced.

Do you have any style tips for the coming fall and winter, specifically those including knitwear?

My advice is: don’t just buy the first thing you’re attracted to. There is amazing knitwear out there if you just look for it, you’ll definitely find it. Don’t just buy something because it’s right there. Knitwear can be investment pieces and people don’t realize how important it is. I think that if people take the time to find something they really love, it’ll make a difference. Knitwear is so comforting, and in fall and winter, it’s your shield. If you find something that maybe has a little story to it… it’s like a treasure hunt, and so every time you put it on when it’s cold you’ll remember it.

    Greetings,

Loving your belt, seems very versatile — may I ask where it’s from?
